MORE Community Update

Whiteside Area Career Center has expanded credentialing and dual credit for coursework taken at the Center and has increased student enrollment by over 100 students compared to 2018. Area high schools plan to use Xello to connect employers and students.

Further, Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC) continues to expand dual credit and early college. The Multicraft Extended Internship Program(MEIP), continues to be promoted at area high schools. SVCC has continued to provide leadership and direction on education, manufacturing and agriculture high school endorsement planning. SVCC is also working with area high schools to offer transitional math. Rock Falls high school piloted the program this year and SVCC is offering other high schools the chance to participate this fall.

Additionally, Morrison Tech has opened the Innovation Center, where students can bring concepts and creations out of the classroom into the real world and will expand use to the general public in the fall. Morrison Tech will host area students in a summer STEM/Robotics camp and will also reach out to area schools to expand robotics and CAD instruction by helping schools build their staff capacity.

Finally, Clinton Regional Development Corp (CRDC) is working with Sauk and Clinton employers to offer manufacturing skills training at Fulton High School. The CRDC, Clinton HS, and the Dept. of Labor hosted an information meeting about registered high school apprenticeship programming. Quad City high schools and employers are partnering to offer the apprenticeships and expect to see success for both students and employers.
