Sauk Valley Community College Approved as an Apprenticeship Site, Pilots Impact Program

Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC) Approved as an Apprenticeship Site

The U.S. Department of Labor has approved SVCC as a registered apprenticeship site for the Maintenance Electrician Program, which will provide students work-based experiences and employment in the field. This allows the college to offer a work-based learning experience, which is great for students’ retention and responds to industry needs.

SVCC Pilots Impact Program

SVCC’s Impact Program allows students to earn up to three years of tuition and fees at SVCC in exchange for volunteering in their communities. The program is currently being piloted in Fulton and Prophetstown High Schools. Students must do five things to earn their tuition and fees at SVCC:

  1. Opt into the program by September 1 of their freshman year of high school
  2. Complete 100 hours of community service by high school graduation (25/year)
  3. Progress with the rest of their class
  4. Apply for a scholarship
  5. Complete the FAFSA
